Visual Investigations — Virtual Photography Workshop
This workshop focuses on the technical as well as the conceptual aspects of making photographs. Photographic education starts by viewing and discussing photography. Participants would be introduced to genres of photography, different photographers and their work. They would also be involved in creating photographs.

· Anyone who wants to make their photographs speak.
· Aspiring photographers and photography enthusiasts who are at the beginning of their journey.
What makes this workshop different?
· It will be an interactive and participatory discourse with questions, discussions, commentary and critique.
· It would involve discussions on the philosophy of making and perceiving images.
Workshop sessions are scheduled for Saturdays & Sundays (4:00 pm - 5:00 pm) commencing on September 5.
There will be two classes a week, for 1 hour each, for four weeks (8 sessions in total). The classes will be held online via Zoom. A detailed description of the course schedule is as follows:
Week 1: Understanding the basic technicalities of the camera: aspects like aperture, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, tone, texture et al.
Week 2: Discussion between the participants and instructor on the history, subject matter and purpose of photography. These will be contextualized and criticized with respect to contemporary photography discourse.
Week 3: Storytelling and photographs.
Week 4: Development and refinement of projects that the students choose to undertake at the end of the second week.
By the end of the workshop, participants would have a sense of direction aligned with the motivations and aspirations that they have for photography.
Above 15 years old. A working DSLR or adjustable point-and-shoot camera is required.
Vibhav Kapoor is a photographer whose work focuses on daily life, human connection and the mystery of perception. He has published his work in India as well as the United States and recently exhibited at the latest edition of The India Story in Kolkata, India. He completed his undergraduate studies in Computer Science and Philosophy from the University of California, Irvine earlier this year. Moving forward, he is a prospective MFA (Master of Fine Arts) candidate at the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.
